The life-giving gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest gift a person could receive and is the center of the greatest Story of all: the Story of God's redemptive plan unfolding across the Bible. In Luke 24:44-48 the resurrected Jesus shows how to understand the gospel in two ways: 1) in its essence: gospel is the unchanging good news of what Jesus has done through the cross and resurrection, we can think of it in two ways: 1) In its essence: "Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance or forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations" (vv. 46-47). But our Lord also implies the gospel Story as the great epic message of Scripture when He says, "all the things that are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” The grand Story of Scripture can be summarized as Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. Sharing the good news with people far from God helps to give them a framework to understand what Jesus came to do for sinners.
Following this framework under the headings Beautiful World, Broken by Sin, Beloved by God, Believe on Jesus, the conversation guide helps to show how our story only makes sense when yielded to God's greater Story. See the print and video resources below that show how to use the booklet effectively.
The guide is explained in some detail in the book Sharing Jesus, Showing Kindness and is an ideal tool to use when teaching the book. It's also a great tool to use in the missional projects with D-Life.
